Rina Myklak, NP
Rina Myklak migrated from Cambodia as an immigrant and grew up in California. She joined the Army to help pay for her college education and received her Associate's degree in nursing in 1997. She worked in the medical-surgical unit and then the pediatric unit. She continued pursuing higher education and received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from California State University, Fullerton in 2004. She continued her education and received her Master's in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 2014 from California State University, Long Beach. Her passion for becoming a Nurse Practitioner stemmed from when her mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the 1980s. There were few minority nurses, and there was no one who could act as an interpreter for her mother. She saw the need for minorities in nursing and decided to pursue her nursing career, hoping to represent Southeast Asians in the nursing field. Rina's passion is helping the less fortunate. She is passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. She has gone on mission trips to an orphanage in Mexico and helped build a school in rural Cambodia. She has also gone on medical mission trips to Cambodia, providing medical care to underserved rural villages where healthcare is unavailable. In her spare time, she loves to hike, travel, cook, and explore small towns.
